Stable branch

Builds from the stable branch are, as the name says, stable. They contain the latest version of the software used (GCC, Binutils, GDB, etc.). However, they may contain some experimental software that may be extremely useful but not 100% stable.

They can be used for production. However, they compile worse code and are more unstable than the legacy branch, whose downloads are available in its section below.

Current stable release: avr-gcc 11-20210501 (view release notes)

If you want to download the latest release of the stable branch, click on your computer’s architecture link from the table below. Thanks!

Note: You’ll need to have installed a .7z decompression tool to unzip the Windows downloads (eg. 7-zip, WinRAR, etc.)

Legacy branch

Legacy branch’s builds are extremely stable and production-ready. These builds ARE recommended for production environments, since they generate the best code and uses no experimental software.

These build do not have the latest features (they are based on the GCC 8.x branch). If you like to have the newest features, then this build isn’t probably for you. Instead, if you want to have the smallest-size binaries, very stable software and you don’t care about the new GCC features, then I encourage you to download avr-gcc from this branch.

Current legacy release: avr-gcc 8.5.0-1 (view release notes)

If you want to download the latest release of the legacy branch, click on your computer’s architecture link from the table below. Thanks!
